Recruiting: Penn State lands top defensive end
Lions also in running for Rochester's Moye

Penn State landed a top out-of-state recruit and is expected to get a top player from Western Pennsylvania today.

Devon Still, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive end from Howard High School in Wilmington, Del., announced his verbal commitment to Penn State yesterday. His other finalist was Ohio State.

At noon today, Rochester receiver-defensive back Derek Moye will announce his college choice. The finalists are Pitt and Penn State, and he is expected to choose Penn State.

"I know where I'm going, but I haven't told either school yet," said Moye, the Post-Gazette WPIAL Class A Player of the Year.

Penn State coach Joe Paterno was at Rochester yesterday and met with Moye. But Moye said he also talked with Pitt coaches yesterday on the telephone.

"I actually knew a couple days ago where I was going," Moye said.

Still is ranked the No. 11 strongside defensive end in the country by Rivals.com and Super Prep ranks him the No. 31 defensive lineman overall. Still had 13 sacks as a senior.

"The first thing you have to look at with him is his size -- and he's barely touched the weights yet," said Howard coach Dan Ritter. "Colleges fully expect to pack 50 pounds on him. The other thing about him that's most intriguing is he's a young 17 years old. So he hasn't reached his potential yet."

Still also played offensive guard and center, and some colleges liked him as an offensive lineman. He also is a state shot put champion.
