The Steelers began the decade as four times Super Bowl winners. By the end of the '80s, they would still be searching for the "One for the thumb."
Quarterbacks came and went. The old guard of the Super Bowl years would play their final games and move on to "their life's work" as coach Chuck Noll would put it.
And they would also lose a legendary leader, "The Chief," Art Rooney Sr., who passed away in the summer of 1988.
