Kristy Borza, a Beaver Area High School graduate and a junior at Pitt, broke the Panthers career record for tennis victories recently.
In a match at St. Bonaventure, Pitt recorded a 7-0 victory. Borza earned wins in both singles and doubles to better the record of 126 set by Annie Davies in 2006.
Borza now has 140 victories as the Panthers (11-7 overall, 5-2 in the Big East) head into the Big East team tournament this week as the No. 9 seed.
Rubber band man
Andrew Rafalski, a Montour High School graduate, broke the career appearance record of 58 games at California (Pa.) University this past Monday.
A right-handed pitcher he appeared in his 59th game as the Vulcans split a doubleheader at Ohio Valley College.
The old record of 58 was set by Dave Yasenchak in 1980-83.
