FIRST ROUND, GAME 1

Penguins 4, Ottawa 0

Longtime Senators nemesis Gary Roberts had two goals as the Penguins won a Game 1 at home for the first time since 1996. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who had been overwhelmed in the playoffs a year earlier against Ottawa, made 26 saves for his first career playoff shutout. Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists.

FIRST ROUND, GAME 2

Penguins 5, Ottawa 3

A wraparound, power-play goal by Ryan Malone on goaltender Martin Gerber with 1:02 left in regulation made up for the Penguins squandering a three-goal lead. Malone then added an empty-net goal on the Penguins' 54th shot. Petr Sykora scored twice and Sidney Crosby had four assists for the Penguins.FIRST ROUND, GAME 3

Penguins 4, Ottawa 1

Sidney Crosby's goal on the first shift of the third period broke open a 1-1 game and tilted the series momentum squarely in the Penguins' direction. Jordan Staal and Marian Hossa followed with third-period goals after Max Talbot tied it in the second period. Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson made a surprise return from injury.

FIRST ROUND, GAME 4

Penguins 3, Ottawa 1

Second-period goals from Evgeni Malkin and Jarkko Ruutu and an empty-netter by Sidney Crosby gave the Penguins their first playoff series sweep in 16 years and their first playoff series win since 2001. It turned the table on the Senators, who had dominated a year earlier in a five-game series win.

SECOND ROUND, GAME 1

Penguins 5, New York 4

Sidney Crosby's slap shot from the right point glanced off Evgeni Malkin's shin and past goaltender Martin Gerber with 1:41 left in regulation. The Penguins climbed back from a 3-0 deficit by scoring goals 14 seconds apart in the second period and, after Jaromir Jagr gave New York a 4-2 lead, 20 seconds apart in the third period.

SECOND ROUND, GAME 2

Penguins 2, New York 0

Jordan Staal broke a scoreless tie in the second period when he went to the net and converted a feed from Evgeni Malkin, who had danced around Staal's brother, New York defenseman Marc Staal. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves -- including a big stop on Jaromir Jagr -- for his second career playoff shutout.

SECOND ROUND, GAME 3

Penguins 5, New York 3

Evgeni Malkin, named a finalist earlier in the day for the Hart Trophy as league MVP, was dominant. He had two power-play goals and an assist. Malkin's game-winner came after Rangers forward Ryan Hollweg's costly boarding penalty on Petr Sykora. The Penguins went up, 3-0, in the series despite being outshot, 39-17.

SECOND ROUND, GAME 4

New York 3, Penguins 0

Former Penguins star Jaromir Jagr's inspired play -- including his second-period goal that snapped a 0-0 tie, as well as an empty-netter, helped New York stave off elimination. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves, including a stop on a penalty shot by the Penguins' Evgeni Malkin, for his second career playoff shutout.

SECOND ROUND, GAME 5

Penguins 3, New York 2, OT

Trade-deadline acquisition Marian Hossa quieted the critics who said he couldn't deliver in the postseason with his goal at 7:10 of overtime, his second of the game, that put the Penguins into the Eastern Conference final for the first time since 2001. They will face the Philadelphia Flyers.
