Post-Gazette wins 14 Golden Quill awards

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette won 14 Golden Quill awards last night in the annual journalism contest sponsored by the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania.

P-G sportswriter Robert Dvorchak captured the Ray Sprigle Memorial Award for daily newspapers and wire services, circulation over 45,000, for his "The Steelers at 75 Series."

That series also won the general sports category in the competition for daily newspapers and wire services, circulation over 45,000.

The Post-Gazette also won in the following categories:

Also during the awards presentation, the Press Club honored Aviva Radbord, weekend assignment editor/public affairs producer for KDKA-TV, with the President's Award, and the organization honored Toni Locy, former Shott Chair of Journalism professor at West Virginia University, with the Service to Journalism Award.

Rossilynne Skena of Level Green, a sophomore at Penn State University, received the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania scholarship, given to an aspiring journalism student.
