Three city police commanders were told yesterday by Chief Nathan Harper that they will be transferred May 26.

Cmdr. RaShall Brackney is going to Zone 1 on the North Side from Zone 5 in East Liberty.

Zone 1 Cmdr. Catherine McNeilly will move to Zone 3 on the South Side.

And Zone 3 Cmdr. Larry Ross will go to Zone 5.

Cmdr. Brackney said she and Cmdr. McNeilly were told they were being shifted because their expertise is "needed in other areas."

Police spokeswoman Diane Richard declined to provide details of the pending moves because an official transfer list has not been drafted, but she said, "understandably that's the prerogative of the chief to utilize his troops as he sees fit."

She said no community would see a drop in service because commanders are trained to work in any zone.
