PREGAME
-A day after they did the Penguins-Flyers game, Mike Emrick and Ed Olczyk are in Dallas. This is their third game in as many days. They also did 5 of this series in Detroit Saturday. These guy are going to deserve a vacation soon.
FIRST PERIOD
16:14: Detroit strike first through an unconventional manner. Dallas Drake throws the puck from the corner into the slot. It hits off Kris Draper's arm or chest and deflects into the net. Officials review the goal through video and confirm it. Draper leaves the ice with a facial injury. Red Wings 1-0.
11:16: The Stars get a chance to pull even as Darren McCarty is sent off for cross checking.
9:11: The Red Wings kill off McCarty's penalty. Stars defenseman Trevor Daley is nabbed for hooking Pavel Datsyuk.
8:19: Nicklas Lidstrom drives a slapper on net. It hits Nicklas Groosman's skate and comes to a rest. Pavel Datsyuk jumps on it and pounds it by a prone Turco. Not a good way for the Stars to start. Red Wings 2-0.
7:05: Draper can be seen on the bench with a pretty nasty looking cut on his chin. It can't be easy putting stitches into a beard.
3:43: It's looking like we can book our travel plans for Detroit. Brett Lebda comes down the right wing and sends a backhander into the crease. Turco tries to stand up with the puck but doesn't handle it cleanly. Drake is right on his doorstep to bang in the rebound. Red Wings 3-0.
1:56: The Stars get a chance to get back into this as Brad Stuart is called for interference.
0:36: Brad Winchester and Valtteri Filppula are caleld for matching minors.
0:00: End of period. Red Wings 3, Stars 0.
-It's almost as if the Red Wing have said, "Enough of this" and have decided to end this series.
-Bill Patrick gets the obligatory lame "Dallas Drake/Dallas Stars" joke out of the way. Thanks Bill.
-Draper apparently scored his goal with his face. We thought he was injured when Matt Niskanen checked him too the ice after the puck went in.
-All three of the Stars goals have been power-play scores.
SECOND PERIOD
17:39: McCarty is called for interference. Is it getting redundant to say the Stars need a goal here?
16:49: Start checking for hotel rooms in Detroit. Brenden Morrow makes a terrible pass at the blue line. Henrik Zetterberg steals the puck and flies down ice on a breakaway. He dekes and beats Turco on the stick side. Red Wings 4, Stars 0.
12:33: We switched over to Family Guy on TBS for a few minutes. Apparently the Stars have another power play that they won't do anything with.
9:56: Darren McCarty is sent off again. The Stars will fail to score again.
6:47: Krys Barch is given two minutes for hooking.
4:51: Stephane Robidas is run over by Drake along the boards.
4:14: The Stars get another power play to do nothing with.
0:00: End of period. Red Wings 4, Stars 0.
-This thing is over.
THIRD PERIOD
18:38: Niklas Kronwall is called for tripping. The Stars get another power play but what's the point?
17:33: We guess that was the point. Mike Ribeiro dishs the puck from behind the point to Robidas who has sneaked in from the point. Robidas fires a quick slapper that beats Osgood. The "Hey Song" is played. Red Wings 4-1.
12:06: Ribeiro swats the puck out of the air on net. It comes down in the crease. The Stars crash trying anything to poke it by Osgood. The Red Wings goaltender manages to keep it out with the help of his teammates. It's a maddening scene. Give the Stars credit. The odds are against them but they're not giving up. They're refusing to curl up and die like the Flyers did yesterday.
5:14: Ribeiro gets a chance deep. He blasts a slapper that Osgood cooly turns away.
2:35: Going for broke, the Stars pull Turco.
1:48: Brad Richards cracks a slapper from the left side. Osgood makes the save.
0:00: End of game. Red Wings 4, Stars 1.
POSTGAME

-Nicklas Lidstrom allllmosst looks like he's going to touch it but he stops just short. Sidney Crosby in comparison tried to find another area code when he "accepted" the Prince of Wales Trophy.
