Proud of the Pens

I am so proud of our Penguins; they are such a great team. They can hold their heads as high as the Red Wings can hold the cup. Pittsburgh fans are behind our teams win or lose. Not many other cities can say the same.

True hockey home

Hats off to Pens fans. I am a lifelong Red Wings and hockey fan (born and raised in Detroit, now living in Cincinnati), so Wednesday night was, of course, a great night for me and all Wings fans. But I have to comment on how Penguins fans have impressed me. Throughout the series, the energy in the Igloo was palpable through the television and the excitement was infectious. But, Wednesday night, the way fans stuck around out of respect for the cup and for the incredible accomplishment it is for a team to win it was truly impressive.

I've always liked Pittsburgh as a hockey city since the Lemieux/Jagr days, and watching this series further cemented your town as a great hockey home. Congrats on a memorable season and a great team.

Class act

Just a word of thanks to the Pittsburgh Penguins' fans in attendance for the Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup clinching victory. Having the class and appreciation for the great series to applaud both the Wings team and individual players as they skated with the cup was impressive to see. It was a truly great Stanley Cup winning season that couldn't have ended any better than in Pittsburgh. Here's to seeing the Penguins in a rematch in 2009 ...

Fans don't boo

What's wrong with Pittsburgh Penguins fans? After watching Detroit beat the Penguins to clinch the cup, I was appalled that so-called "hockey fans" were booing Detroit players as they raised the cup to celebrate. Just brutal, no class.

It's one thing to root for your team but to boo the winners? Definitely leaves a negative impression of Pittsburgh and its fans.
