Gordon to coach Shaler football
Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Neil Gordon will again be a head coach in WPIAL football next season.

Gordon was hired last night as Shaler's new coach. He succeeds Jacque DeMatteo, who left a few weeks ago to become Hampton's coach.

Gordon was highly successful in 21 seasons at Penn Hills, compiling a 156-72-2 record. But the Penn Hills school board decided not to renew his contract after last season.

Shaler hired Gordon as its offensive coordinator a few months ago. When DeMatteo left, the Shaler school board turned to Gordon.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
