High School Notebook: Warford to coach at Canevin
Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Reggie Warford, once was an assistant basketball coach at Pitt, is the new boys' basketball coach at Bishop Canevin High School.

Warford succeeds Adam Kaufman, who resigned to become Montour's coach. Most recently, Warford was Seton-LaSalle's coach for a year (2005-06). But also on his resume are assistant coaching stops with Long Beach State and the Harlem Globetrotters.

Basketball recruiting

Emily Schartner, a 5-foot-10 senior guard on the Ringgold girls' basketball team, made a verbal commitment to New Jersey Tech, an NCAA Division I school. Schartner averaged 15 points a game last season.

QB is out

Franklin Regional quarterback Anthony Vendemia, who threw for 1,163 yards in nine games last season, will not practice until at least next week because of a broken hand.
