Kitchen Mailbox always takes requests:
Audrey Bertovich, Plum: "My mother used to buy cakes from Guenther's Bakery in Braddock. One was rainbow cake, which consisted of different layers such as banana, cherry, yellow and chocolate, with a delicious icing. The other cake was called pineapple fondant cake. It was a moist yellow cake covered with a marshmallow icing and a light fondant glaze, topped with a pineapple ring. Both were fantastic cakes. I was hoping to find the recipes."
Doreen Karas, Sheraden: "Years ago I found a recipe on the back of a Heinz ketchup label for gingered meatballs. It called for ketchup, ginger ale and ground ginger. I can't find the recipe. Does a reader have that old ketchup label?"
Helen Lewis, Mt. Lebanon: "I am looking for a recipe for zucchini cookies."
