Two children died in a fire early today in Crafton Heights, and their mother is hospitalized in serious condition with burns.

Aisha White, 28, and her daughter, Paje, 6, survived the overnight blaze. But the bodies of Ms. White's two sons, William, 10, and Jordan, 4, were found by firefighters in a second-floor bedroom.

The fire was reported at 1:09 a.m. in a residence in the 700 block of Litchfield Street.

Firefighters reported flames consuming the first floor upon their arrival at the scene, and the fire already had spread to the second floor.

A car parked beside the burning house also caught fire, and the flames spread to an adjacent house, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ms. White's daughter apparently was not injured.
