HARRISBURG -- Four more defendants in the so-called "bonusgate" government corruption scandal have waived their rights to a preliminary hearing, clearing the way for their cases to move straight to trial.
Jeffrey Foreman, Patrick LaVelle, Scott Brubaker and his wife Jennifer Brubaker appeared today before Dauphin County President Judge Richard A. Lewis and agreed to have their cases bound over to county court.
They join spouses Michael Manzo and Rachel Manzo, who last week waived their preliminary hearings.
Formal arraignments will be set after the preliminary hearings, which begin tomorrow, said District Court Administrator Carolyn C. Thompson. Six defendants remain scheduled for hearings tomorrow.
The defendants are 12 Democratic elected officials or current or former caucus staff members charged in an alleged scheme to divert tax dollars to political campaigns of House Democratic incumbents.
The investigation is continuing and state Attorney General Tom Corbett has said that more arrests are likely.
