Trevor Harris threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Gary Nolen with 4:39 to play to lift Edinboro to a 24-17 victory against visiting IUP in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference yesterday.
Harris, who completed 26 of 36 passes for 290 yards, became the school's all-time career leader with 7,540 yards passing and 7,892 total yards.
Edinboro (6-1, 3-1) is ranked 18th and IUP (4-2, 2-2) 16th in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll.
Edinboro led, 17-0, heading into the fourth quarter on touchdown runs of 1 and 3 yards by Ulysee Davis and Merle Buchat's 39-yard field goal.
IUP rallied behind quarterback Andrew Krewatch, who completed 22 of 38 passes for 313 yards and a touchdown. The Crimson Hawks tied it, 17-17, on Craig Burgess' 36-yard field goal with 8:06 remaining.
California 56, Lock Haven 3: Kevin McCabe threw for 310 yards and five touchdowns, three to Marchel Pestano, as the Vulcans (6-1, 4-0), ranked No. 8 in Division II, rolled over Lock Haven (0-7, 0-4).
Glenville 42, West Liberty 39: Branden Ore scored touchdowns on runs of 16, 23, 15, 12 and 27 yards for West Liberty (4-3, 3-1) in a loss to Glenville (4-3, 3-1) in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Glenville's James McCants threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score.
Waynesburg 63, Westminster 26: Scott Cree returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown and Brad Dawson passed for 238 yards and four touchdowns and Bill Becker rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown as the host Yellow Jackets (3-3, 3-3) defeated the Titans (3-3, 1-1).
Kutztown 42, Shippensburg 21: Mike Harris had seven catches for 172 yards and touchdowns of 27 and 46 yards from Chad DiFebbo as the visiting Red Raiders (3-4, 2-2) lost to the Golden Bears (3-4, 2-2) in the PSAC East.
Sacred Heart 41, Saint Francis 24: Evin Jones rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown and Dale Fink passed for 214 yards and four touchdowns to lead the host Pioneers (6-0, 2-0) against the Red Flash (0-6, 0-3) in the Northeast Conference. For Saint Francis, George Little completed 18 of 28 for 204 yards and a touchdown.
Grove City 38, Geneva 13: Stephen Mercer returned a punt a school-record 83 yards for a touchdown and also scored on runs of 6, 1 and 6 yards to lead the host Wolverines (4-2) against the Golden Tornadoes (1-4). Mercer carried 16 times for 87 yards and Andrew DiDonato passed for 191 yards and a touchdown. For Geneva, David Girardi completed 15 of 35 for 160 yards and a touchdown.
Carnegie Mellon 41, Allegheny 14: Christopher Garcia rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and Anthony Ruzga ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns to lead the visiting Tartans (4-1) against the Gators (2-3).
Thiel 50, Bethany 44: Willie Bova completed 32 of 63 for 374 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown as the host Tomcats (1-5, 1-2) went four overtimes to defeat the Bison (1-5, 0-3).
