Stylebook: Jewelry designers are focal point of Saks trunk shows

Two jewelry designers and a fashion designer will visit Saks Fifth Avenue for trunk shows this week.

Sharon Meyer, based in Troy, Mich., will be at the store at 513 Smithfield St., Downtown, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. One of her necklaces, along with a publication commemorating her 25 years in jewelry design, will be given away in a drawing Wednesday as part of the store's "Key to the Cure" breast cancer-awareness event.

New York-based Robert Bruce Bielka, the world's first jewelry designer to be credentialed as a certified master bench jeweler by Jewelers of America, will be at a trunk show of his latest fine jewelry creations Friday and Saturday. His celebrity clients range from Billy Joel and Barbra Streisand to Barbara Walters and Joan Rivers.

Pizzazz show in Fox Chapel

The annual Pizzazz boutique shopping event presented by the Garden Club of Allegheny County is Wednesday through Friday at the Fox Chapel Golf Club at 426 Fox Chapel Road.

The event features 30 designer boutiques from Pittsburgh and across the United States, ranging from Fancy's Folly women's clothing in Sewickley to luxury home accessories and apparel from Balbianellio in Lexington, Mass.

Tickets to the preview party from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday start at $50; reservations required. Admission is $5 for shopping 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Reservations required for $25 buffet luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. either day. Call 412-741-1542.

Saturday: Jewelry designer Franco Pianegando, based in Vincenza, Italy, will appear at a trunk show of his designs 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Henne Jewelers, 5501 Walnut St., Shadyside. He will sign each of his designs that is purchased, and buyers will receive a free Pianegando gift with a $500 Pianegando purchase.

Oct. 26: Pittsburgh Allderdice High School's third annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, a fund-raiser for the school's spring musical, is 11:30 a.m. at The Concordia Club in Oakland. The latest fashions from several local stores will be on display. Cost is $30 per person; $27 for students or seniors. Reservations required by Oct. 17.
