Already convicted of third-degree murder, a Knoxville man pleaded guilty yesterday to aggravated assault during his apprehension by police.
Terrence Allen, 27, got the worst of the encounter in April 2007 -- he was shot by a Pittsburgh police officer.
Mr. Allen was spotted Downtown by an officer who thought he matched the description of a burglary suspect. The officer pursued Mr. Allen, who pointed a gun at him, bringing the aggravated assault charge. The officer repeatedly demanded that Mr. Allen drop his gun, but he refused.
When the suspect turned toward him, the officer fired a shot that struck Mr. Allen in the chest. He was listed in critical condition but recovered.
After the shooting police discovered that Mr. Allen was wanted for homicide. Last month, he was convicted of killing his stepfather, Terrance Williams, in October 2006.
He will be sentenced in both cases Jan. 22.
