Q: What is with the lack of carries for Stephfon Green most of the year? Is it really the ankle or could he possibly be in Joe Paterno's doghouse?

Curt Czarnecki, Erie

MUSSELMAN: Green has what coach Joe Paterno calls a chronic right ankle "that gets loose on him once in a while." Green had surgery after being injured in the fourth quarter of the Rose Bowl. He had a season-high 120 yards against Illinois while serving as Evan Royster's backup. But Green re-injured his ankle two weeks later against Minnesota and missed the following two games. He returned in a limited role against Ohio State and had eight carries for 26 yards against Indiana Saturday. Green also returned two punts for 39 yards after replacing Chaz Powell, who injured his right shoulder. With tailback/fullback Brandon Beachum out with a serious knee injury, I would expect Green's workload to increase against Michigan State.
